It's a very dire, straight type of situation.

And one thing that I have heard, and I just don't understand it, because there is this

idea out there when you look at this defense, I've heard a couple of times, they just

haven't invested in the defense.

When you look at what they've done,

and I don't get that because I disagree.

I disagree quite a bit.

Because if you look at how do you invest in something?

Well, of course, part of that is financial.

A lot of it, though, with the way that the Cowboys run things,

is draft and develop. And so when you look at it to me, when you're drafting guys in the first round, they're supposed to be you're starting right off the bat. When you're drafting guys on day two, second and third rounds, those are guys that you believe potentially can earn a second contract with you that have starter potential. Day three, who cares? But when you look at the first two, or excuse me, three rounds of the draft, let's go

back to 2021.

So guys drafted in 2021 would be playing either on their fifth year option if they're a

first rounder or in their fifth year, which would be at the beginning of a second

contract.

Their last 17 picks in the top three rounds

from 2021 until this year,

12 of those picks were defensive players.

12 of them in the top three rounds.

That's investing in your defense.
