The Dallas Cowboys spent over two weeks now since Matt Iberfluse and the Cowboys parted ways.

Cowboys trying to find their next defensive coordinator in one of the names.

So they have brought in, they cast a wide net.

And they're going about this much differently than, for instance, when they brought Dan Quinn in the year after Mike Nolan, they only interviewed three people.

Quinn was one of them. They went right with them. Well, this year they interviewed nine people, and they've had three in-person interviews with Jonathan Gannon, Dorante Jones, and Christian Parker.

And it sounds like they would like to see what happens with Jim Leonard

and have him for an in-person interview, which would give them four in-person interviews.

But there has been somewhat of a wrench thrown into this,

and that comes from Durante Jones, who is the defensive passing game coordinator and

DB coach for the Minnesota Vikings. Well, Brian Flores was operating without a contract for

the Vikings, their defensive coordinator. He yesterday basically came to an agreement with Minnesota for a new contract for

defensive coordinator unless one of the six remaining head coach openings wants to hire him as

head coach. And there has been some thought that Pittsburgh has him very high on his list. If that

were to happen, then Durante Jones would most likely become the Minnesota defensive coordinator. Or do you go with Brian Flores if he's the head coach with him to be

the defensive coordinator in Pittsburgh? Or do you want a clean break and say, I want something on

my own and look at Dallas and say, all right, well, I just kind of want a fresh start and have

something on my own. It's just so many different branches you can have.

And that's why I think this search is kind of complicating things here for Dallas.

I do feel, though, if Ron Flores is not given a head coaching position and he stays in

Minnesota, then if the Cowboys want to speak

with Durante Jones again, he'll be more likely to say, okay, you know what, I want to be a

defensive coordinator somewhere and I can look and go somewhere else. And that will be at
