0:07.5	And I'm Alexander Stewart, MSP. It is my pleasure on behalf of the committee to chair this session today.

0:23.7	Just over three years ago, Russia launched its illegal invasion of Ukraine.
0:28.6	And throughout the last few years, Ukraine has received support from a number of allies,
0:33.7	including the United Kingdom, the European Union member states and the United States of America.
0:39.8	However, in recent weeks, the situation has changed with President Trump questioning the United States' commitment to the support of Ukraine.
0:47.6	And today's seminar is an opportunity for us to hear from our speakers about the situation and how it might evolve over the coming
0:55.3	weeks and months. Before I introduce the speakers, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to the

1:19.5	ago you did arrive. Two weeks ago you did have the opportunity to come to committee and give us an update and we thank you for that and extend a well welcome to you today.

1:47.7	response to how the UK, Europe and NATO might respond to the changes and the approach
1:53.0	that's now taking place in Washington.
1:55.0	Our first speaker this morning is Professor Luke March, a personal chair of post-Soviet
1:59.6	and politics at University of Edinburgh.
2:02.6	Professor March joined the politics in international relations department in Edinburgh in 1999,
2:07.6	from Birmingham University where he'd finished his PhD in Russian politics.
