American soldiers be where the international criminal court may be coming after you for

doing the right thing in defending America. Yesterday they decided to go after Israel, a

fellow democracy which operates under the rule of law. Israel today, the United States

tomorrow, you'll see why this is the death knell for the international criminal court.

Some of you may have heard of the international criminal court that sits in the hay, but there

may be some of my viewers and listeners for whom this is something new. The United States

is not a party to the international criminal court, so it hasn't gotten a lot of attention

in the American press, but yesterday it made a decision that may essentially end its

credibility and destroy it as a court with any impact on international law. Just first

a bit of history. In 2002, the nations of the world met in Rome and a hundred and something

of them signed on to what was called the Rome Treaty. And the Rome Treaty created an

international criminal court with a very distinguished prosecutor, somebody who was well

regarded all over the world. And the jurisdiction of the international criminal court was quite

limited. It was a court design to prevent genocides. We had been through obviously the Holocaust,

the Armenian genocide. More recently, the Rwandan genocide, genocides and other parts of

the world. And the international community got together and said enough enough. We ought

to have a court located in the Hague, a neutral objective court, a very limited jurisdiction

and limited in several ways. Number one, it would focus on genocide. It would focus on massive,

undisputed crimes against humanity, where one country kills people based on their ethnicity

or race or anything of the kind, genocide, war crimes, the most, the most horrible kinds

of things imaginable, like again, the Holocaust, the Armenian genocide and others like that.

So that would be one limit on its jurisdiction. The other limit would be a strange word. And
