Hello, welcome back to the Intel with Greg CoSell on the Inside the Bird's platform.

I'm Jeff Mosher with Adam Kaplan.

And we've got Greg CoSell as he continues to break down NFL draft prospects by position for the 2006 NFL draft. And we're starting to

come to the end of the series. We're moving on to off ball linebackers. These are linebackers

who can play either off the ball in a three four scheme or, you know, middle linebacker,

outside linebacker in a four three scheme but the key is

they play off the ball could they line up on the edge perhaps zach bond does that for the eagles

but basically he is an off ball linebacker and we will go through the college crop of them and gregg

will break them down as he does for everybody so gregg we throw throw it to you. We always ask you kind of a,

you know, this is a weird position. Yeah, we do. This is a weird one because of

positional value where a lot of teams, no matter how good a player is at this spot just doesn't

value. I mean, the Eagles for the first time in decades took one last year at the bottom of the first

round. So when you're watching tape, and I know in your mind, even though you don't do mock drafts,

you wonder where guys might go or what they do, but this is probably hard because some of the best

ones don't go in the top 10 to 12. Well, you know, it's interesting, Jeff, and you obviously

mentioned the Eagles. And I know for a fact that if you spoke to Vic Fangio, he would tell you that

off ball linebackers are really important to his defense. I mean, we see what Zach Bonn has done the last

two years. We saw what happened when the Kobe Dean came back this year, and he immediately was

reinserted into the

lineup and how important that was. I think with the sort of proliferation of the Vic Fangio

school of defensive coaches in the league, I think that the off ball linebacker position,

and again, I'm not suggesting you're going to see five taken in the first round, believe me.
