Death was not the end for Jesus on the cross, and it's not the end for believers either.

What would you have thought?

If a man you'd followed for three years made such statements as this,

I'm the father or one.

If you've seen me, you've seen the Father.

I'm the Light of the World.

No man comes to the Father but by me.

In fact, I could call down legions of angels and they would destroy

the enemy. I am the door. I am the good shepherd. Those whom the Father gives me are mine.

And all of a sudden, here he is hanging upon a cross between two thieves and dying.

Now, wait a minute.

This man said that he and the father were one.

He could call down legions of angels.

No man comes to the father but by him.

He was before Abraham was.

What about all this kingdom business? What about all these

promises he's made? And here he is dying, crucified between two thieves. How does all this

fit? And all of a sudden their life fell apart.

They didn't know what was happening.

It was midnight in their soul.
