Summary

The Insider Movement … what is it? Well, we've pulled out the big guns to ensure we got a good answer, and his name is Dr. David Garner. He's Associate Professor of Systematic Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary, and he's even willing to say he's friends with Carl Trueman. Aside from his charitable friendship to Carl, Dr. Garner is extremely knowledgable on the Insider Movement. He articulates a historically rich, educated response to the hosts' questions while voicing concerns the church should have about this movement. Dr. Garner also shares on the importance of attending seminary from three perspectives: seminary grad, professor, and pastor. The Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals would like to offer a free MP3 download! actually a good friend of mine and a good colleague. His name's Dave Garner. He's a professor of

systematic theology at Westminster Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania.

1:13.2

Dave is part of that massive conspiracy launched out of Dallas Theological Seminary to take over Westminster during the 70s and the 80s,

1:22.7

of which Dave, Greg Beale, Peter Lulbach, and indeed myself, graduating under a pseudonym, are a deep, deeply

1:30.8

embedded part thereof. Dave also studied at Westminster as part of the grand scheme to get him in

1:37.2

as an insider, no less, to subvert the doctoral program, work better than we ever expected,

1:46.2

landing him a faculty position.

1:47.4

That was quite remarkable.

1:53.7

Sent him to Bulgaria, where he was so say a missionary for the PCA, but he was actually working with the Bulgarian secret police in order to develop a few techniques that we've actually

1:57.7

found quite helpful at Westminster in dealing with dissent on faculty

over the years. And we have him here today to talk to us about a number of issues, but probably the

2:10.7

thing which has been closest to Dave's heart, ecclesiastically, over the last couple of years,

2:17.1

as a missionary, as a PCA minister, and as a

systematic theologian has been the insider movement. Dave, some of our listeners may not be

familiar with that term. I wonder if you could give us, I know it's a subtle and it's a complex

issue in many of us, but I wonder if you could give us a sort of it's a subtle and it's a complex issue in many of us, but I wonder if you
