I'm Alexa and I'm sitting in for Roberta today.

We talk a lot on this show about the innocence fraud movement

and the different cases of obviously guilty people being represented by these innocence groups and they make documentaries

and podcasts about them, not to mention the insanely dishonest media reporting. I think they must

be in their pocket because they seem completely incapable of writing even one honest story

about true crime or anything else for that matter.

And they always use the same formula and the same buzzwords and catchphrases that are meant

to evoke an emotional response from the audience while playing fast and loose with the facts.

Something they constantly do is omit huge details.

They won't tell you super important evidence in these cases because they don't want you to know.

I'm sure a lot of listeners of this show are quite familiar with a lot of these tactics,

such as ma-racism, all-white jury, false confession, tunnel vision, corrupt police. I'm sure I'm

forgetting a couple, but these are not creative people, and their goal is to never tell the

truth about these criminals or the horrific crimes they've committed, but instead get you outraged at the system.

Make you feel like they're such an underdog up against the man, and they want you to feel

sorry for these murderers. They make them the actual victims and not the people that they've

killed. Oftentimes they won't even mention the name of the victim in any of these

stories. Some of you may remember from my previous episodes, I used to be a huge supporter of

Adnan Syed in several of these innocence groups, and I still get emails from them asking for my

money and giving me updates on the cases that they're working on.
