One of the most upsetting types of calls I get on my program are those about inheritance.

You know, there are two schools of thought, and in my opinion, yeah, they're both right.

One school of thought is that it's all about the money.

Everybody wants it, and could use it.

The second school of thought is it's about symbolism, the love, and attachment, and connection.

If your parents left you something, I don't know, it feels like they loved you.

So when parents divide their assets, it's often taken as a measurement of how much the

kids were loved, especially when compared with their siblings and anyone else who inherits

their money.

And that's where the fight for things and money begins, and boy, are there fights about

this?

And it can get really stupid.

Because by the time all the agony is over, the estate has been sort of chewed up by

the lawyers and the expenses of it all.

I've had so many callers over the years stressed out about their inheritance situation

that I finally invited as my special guest to the program, Less Cotser, a Will's and

a State's lawyer, with a special focus on avoiding family inheritance battles.
