Observations journey with me. I am having such a good time recounting all of my kind of walk through

the comic business from the eyes of an avid fan in 1975 when I started

pulling those comics off those spinner racks and I learned creators names. I learned characters.

I fell in love with characters. I fell in love with creators. We are back continuing the journey,

continuing to sail through, cover all this territory.

There's so much that pieces together, that fits together in this giant puzzle.

And early on, when I launched this podcast, we discussed how the Squadron Supreme was in the Avengers.

And the Squadron Supreme was a very clear echo echo or some would say homage to the Justice League.

There was a Superman echo homage.

There was a Batman, an Aquaman, a Hawkman.

And over time, as Marvel asserted complete ownership over the Squadron supreme, you would get like, oh, there's a

firestorm, there's a wonder woman, uh, that they would just continue to add very boldly,

mimicking, omaging, you know, echoing the DC standards. And there's always been this, uh, debate in comics comics I think now every day I click on and

somebody is saying you know well without DC there are no superheroes and without you know

they're the template for everything and that Marvel just takes everything that they do and then

there's there's the reverse position that DC rips off Marvel,

and then they're both ripping off mythology.

Anyway, today we are going to dive into not just character influence, but artistic influence.

I've said time and again, it's the artists, the artist voices, the creators that inspire me to follow. I did not buy a Batman comic

until Frank Miller jumped on Dark Night. When he was done, I was kind of done. When he was done

with Daredevil, I was done. So today influences, homages, we might even dive into swipes and cover this entire territory.
