In this week’s episode, exhibition lead Zakira Begum and Community Curators Rav Singh and Dr Tej Pal Singh Ralmill explore the impact of the World Wars on the Indian Army, how they moved the Indian Subcontinent towards independence from the British Empire, and ultimately how the legacy of this history is still relevant today.

Raventh, can you just give us a quick recap on where we got up to in the story of the

British Indian Army?

Indeed, in our first episode, we covered the British Empire, the East India Company and the

birth of the British Raj.

And also we looked at the first two encampments prior to the First World War, the encampments

at Hampton Court Palace.

So how are the army involved in the celebrations?

The Indian Army were involved in several ways.

They were primarily involved with the parades and taking part as the Indian Army contingent,

as other colonial contingents did.

So that was, and there's many, many pictures and stereo views that we have of this parade.
