It's emerged that 1600 skilled IT workers and engineers were denied visas to work here from outside of the EU countries

because of a surge in applications.

Nobody knows why there's been a surge.

Could it be because people from the EU are leaving?

Could it be because people who are already living here

are not actually applying for those jobs?

Even as Sajid Javid is attempting to get to the bottom of the windrush fiasco,

is becoming more and more clear that the Tier 2 visa system,

set up by Theresa May before she became Prime Minister,

isn't actually fit for purpose.

How utterly shambolic.
