Hello and welcome to another edition of the Byron York Show, the no-chit chat podcast.

We'd like to get right into it and what we're going to get into today is what you might

call the incredible shrinking gun control debate.

You all know that the political argument over gun control has erupted again after this

terrible shooting at a school in Uvalde, Texas left 19 children, two teachers dead.

It is the same argument that erupts after every mass shooting, which are horribly common

in recent years.

But this time, after this mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, this time on Capitol Hill at least,

it seems more muted and the measures under consideration are more limited than in the past.

Things seems different about this gun control debate after the Uvalde killings than in earlier

times.

Now, you say, well, you know, I've been watching CNN and MSNBC and the heated rhetoric,

the usual sort of heated rhetoric, is being thrown around by the usual suspects on cable

TV, on the internet, on radio, of course.

It is.

I mean, just look at the number of accusations that Republicans have, quote, blood on their

hands that said pretty often.

But this time, even though the Texas shooting followed shortly after a mass shooting that

killed 10 people in Buffalo, the gun control advocates in Capitol Hill are setting their

sights low, they're setting their sights lower than in the past.

And exhibit A in this is the Connecticut Democratic Senator Chris Murphy.

So he is one of the hills, most determined advocates of new gun control measures in 2016,
