On 985, the sports hub, FM dial, Samalcast across New England and the country on NBC Sports, Boston. A little bit ago, you heard Bill Belichick today talking about the L about the LA Chargers. How they're a different team from last year. I guess, I don't know, we talk about marquee wins or signature wins or wins that actually meant something. When was the last one this Patriots team had, maz? It might have been that Charger game last year. But can we even count that?

What were the Chargers last year, 7 and 9?

Yeah. I mean, can you even count that? No. So what do you think about this week? Okay, so look, that Chargers game, because I think it's easy to look at that and say, well, they're a good team now. You know, they finished the year 7 and 9. when the Patriots played them, they were three and eight.

the year that's how they finished up seven and nine so at one point they were actually three and nine

the charges were so all i'm saying is this when is the last time i I'm saying is this, when is the last time, I was looking it up this morning,

when is the last time the Patriots went on the road and beat a playoff caliber team?

Playoff caliber.

Because I think that's an important distinction because really that is like a basic general line that you cross when you are a good team. You can beat a good team on the road. When you can beat a good team on the road, you're legit. That's the kind of team that everybody looks at and goes, okay, they're a threat to go win just about anywhere at any time. So how do you become that? When do you become that? The last time I think the Patriots did that was when Brady was here. Yeah, and the first game that comes to mind is at Philadelphia in November of 2019, a game I was at, and they weren't even that good. The Eagles kind of sucked. 1710, it was an ugly game money. And in fact, that same season, they had another one early in the year at Buffalo when the bills were just starting to become who they are.

Right. The bills that year went 10 and 6 and made the playoffs and the Patriots won that game, 16 to 10. So they were both ugly losses, 16 to 10 and 17 to 10. So I would tell you that.

So I would tell you that even in those cases, the Brady Patriots were deteriorating. They were becoming less capable of winning those kinds of games than they had been. But whatever, let's not be picky. A road win is a road win over a team that made the playoffs. The Eagles had went nine and seven, but they won the division because the NFC East was terrible. I just remember Brady being pissed after both of those games at the podium because he knew they kind of sucked. Exactly. And so, but again, at least they won the games. True. Yeah. Okay. And for this team, that would be an accomplishment because they're coming at it from the other side. But it's a long way of saying this. They need one of those wins. They need a win against a good team on the road. They need a win like that. They need a win for us to take them seriously. So you want to tell me great that they're undefeated on the road this year.

Great. Terrific. At the Jets, at the Texans. Woopty freaking do. Woopty do. You beat two complete

dog food, dog crap teams on the road. So now you're playing a team that's pretty good.

I don't know if the Chargers are a championship caliber or how much of a run they'll make or whatever, but they're pretty good. I think they're one of the better teams in the AFC. Maybe that says more about the conference, but they're legit. And they're win. I mean, they beat real teams. They went in Kansas City. And I know they're down a little bit. It's still tough place to play. they beat the Chiefs, they beat the Raiders, they beat Cleveland. Like, that's a good team.

It's an opportunity for the Patriots, again, to sort of just take their season and steer it in a different direction. Here's my question. If they actually win this game, are you going to give them credit for a good win? Are we going to go back and say the Chargers blow in there the Chargers? and, you know, are we really going to give them the quality win when it's all set and done?

Probably not. say the Chargers blow and they're the Chargers and, you know, are we really going to give them the quality win when it's all set and done?
