When I first moved into my new home, actually before I moved in, I looked at the soil outside.

0:21.2

It's kind of weird when you think about buying a house, you think about going in and looking

0:24.8

at how many bedrooms there are or how many bathrooms or if you like the floors.

0:28.6

I didn't do any of that. I actually didn't look at the house at all. I looked at the soil in the yard,

0:32.4

the shape of the yard and kind of what trees were on the property. Well, the soil type that you

0:37.7

are growing in is absolutely crucial. And I'm fortunate to say we have Rebecca Sears on the show

0:43.0

this week. She is the chief gardening guru at Ferry Morse, a classic legacy gardening company that

0:49.2

I've interfaced with for many, many years. So Rebecca, it's been great to have you on the show.

0:54.1

Thank you so much for having me Kevin.

I have clay too, even though I'm on the other side of the country for me. Okay. So has that become

1:19.8

like a significant challenge for you? I actually have, have started to really love the soil that I've

1:24.5

got over here. You know, we, we really worked on it over time. You know, I think you're, you're

1:30.5

thought about when you look for new homes, understanding what soil you have is a great one. I think we

1:34.5

should pose that to Zillow and realtor.com. So, so that they can help us out with that. But yeah,

1:41.6

so we've had to amend it over time and add compost to make sure that it gets a little bit more

1:47.5

low. We so plants really are happy there. Yeah, that is absolutely crucial. I, like I said,

1:54.5

I mean, it's not an exaggeration. I looked at the soil. I ordered a soil test as we were in the

1:59.2

escrow process. So kind of an oddball, but you know, it is what it is. So if someone, you know,

2:05.1

whether they're renting or owning or thinking about owning, what, what would you recommend someone
