Hello, weeds listeners. This is Sarah Cliff. I am in the studio by myself. I am not doing a solo

0:05.7

episode of the weeds. Instead, I'm here to introduce my new podcast, The Impact, a show about how

0:12.2

policy affects real people. I am so excited about this show because it is finally a chance to

0:18.8

take all those white paper ideas we talk about on the weeds and see what happens when they actually

0:24.4

get implemented. If you remember, weeds in the wild, this pop-up show we were doing last year,

0:30.3

it's pretty similar to those episodes. Our first season is going to run for eight weeks and we are

0:35.8

looking at healthcare policy. We are going to look at everything from $629 band-aids to why doctors'

0:44.0

0:50.7

to play you part of the first episode so you can get a taste of the podcast. If you enjoy it,

0:56.1

it's super easy to subscribe. Apple podcasts, ditch your overcast wherever you get your shows.

1:09.4

I'll turn it over to the first episode.

1:20.1

1:24.6

decades. He's talking about a fingernail incident that happened back in 2015.

1:29.6

On the pinky right at the end, she snipped too far and cut the end of the finger.

1:36.4

And there was an enormously large amount of blood. She was reading her book at the time and the

1:42.3

blood was all over the book and all over the Sarah and all over Collette and it was like, oh my god,

1:47.4

what have you done here? Malcolm and Sarah were really worried they had injured their daughter.

1:52.5

It was the weekend and the emergency room was the only place that was open.

1:56.6

So they bundled Collette up. They wrapped up her finger in this big wad of toilet paper and they

2:01.3

took her to Danbury Hospital in Connecticut. We were brand new parents. We were freaked out.
