News outlets are declaring this the immigration election.

We can see that many of our political leaders would like for that to be true.

We want to get focused today on what we're actually talking about. What are we trying to do at the southern border and how can we do it?

And we hope that this conversation will add something new to the discussions you're

hearing everywhere about Texas and the courts and the

razor wire and the buses. And then outside of politics we're going to talk about scruffy hospitality, what it means to have people

over without needing to put a whole Martha Stewart

worthy event together.

A topic feels a little bit more related to immigration to me

than I expected when we're in the planning process, Sarah.

So everything today is about how do we welcome people in

and do it in ways that are manageable and healthy and good for everyone?

Before we get started, we wanted to talk about our democracy in America.
