It has a pretty storied history, Thanksgiving Day,

but it's also, if you think about it, almost of necessity,

at least a quasi-religious holiday,

because if we're going to, as a secular nation gather with our family

and our friends on a special day to give thanks we're going to be giving thanks to someone

I think for many it's just giving thanks to themselves or maybe the universe and maybe just

generically God.
