My Lord and my God, I firmly believe that you are here, that you see me, that you hear me.

I adore you with profound reverence.

I ask you for pardon of my sins and grace to make this time of prayer fruitful.

My mother immaculate, St. Joseph, my father and Lord,

my guardian angel intercede for me.

At the beginning of his first letter, St. John hones in on the mystery of you, Jesus, on your very self, and especially on the reality of your humanity.

It could be said that St. John the evangelist is enchanted by the incarnate word.

He is the apostle who spent so much time with you, Lord.

The one who laid his hand on your breast at the last supper.

The one who saw your blood and your sweat and your labored breathing on Calvary. He is the one who contemplated your humanity through Mary, his mother, your mother, whom you entrusted to his care.

When we look at those writings in the New Testament, which come from St. John,

we see this enchantment he has with the Word,

and more than that, with the Word made flesh with Jesus Christ with you Lord and we

want to pray here with all our hearts we want to enter into this period of meditation

of sincere intimate dialogue with you, Jesus.

We're not here simply to reflect in abstract terms

or to think about concepts,

but we're trying to open the ears of our soul

to hear the voice of you, of Jesus,

to receive the word with a capital

w. That's the whole object of our prayer. And the beginning of the first letter of

St. John begins with these words. That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes,
