Summary

The How to Sell Online podcast is a little different for this episode—because I let my team jump in and take it over. I’ll be honest: hitting 150 episodes is exciting, but what I love is getting to hear from people who have been guests on the show or those who have gained insight from it. Sharing their stories, their successes and their how-to’s is the reason I started this podcast. Today’s episode delivers a HUGE dose of inspiration and education—and my fingers are crossed that you’ll enjoy and learn from it. Hey, welcome to the How to Sell Online Podcast. I am Allison, and today we're celebrating two big things before we hop into the actual podcast, but I actually want to talk about celebrating a little bit before I kick it off because maybe in the past you have had a hard time celebrating because you felt like you were bragging like brag a muffin or cocky, right? And those words float around your head. So when you want to go share something that you've just accomplished, maybe you hold back because it starts to feel icky, right? I remember back in elementary days when I played softball.

Might have been t-ball, but my brain recalls it as softball.

And my little scrawny arms held up that bat that weighed probably just about as much as I did and I'm

0:45.8

cocking it all the way back and then letting it rip and the sound of the ball hitting the bat, the crack that happened.

And then it flew clear out into the outfilled

and I made my first home run.

And I was so excited and I came back and I'm telling my dad about it and go see over it and the excitement

1:10.2

losing out and he said Allison Allison, stop, you're bragging. And I remember it was just like the

1:16.4

breaks just went on full force. Now, I think my dad was actually trying to teach me about humility, but I took it as though I couldn't share anything that I was proud of because it was shameful.

1:30.0

Well, as an adult, I realized that my little brain were that daddy lesson completely wrong and how celebrating and bragging are two completely different things.

1:41.0

Bragging is focused on how great you are. The dictionary says it's

1:45.1

excessively proud and boastful, but celebrating is focused on what happened, which is

1:52.2

truth, right? And then full of gratitude. And I actually learned this from two different coaches that I've had over the years, and I would love to know if either of these resonate with you.

2:05.0

So one of my first coaches Russell Brunson, I was actually debating on applying for an award.

2:11.0

And I said, you know, it's not that big of a deal I don't need to show off because it feels like bragging and he turned to me and he said

2:18.4

Allison how did you even know that it was possible to get that thing like you apply you're going to win how

2:25.9

did you know it's even possible and I turned back and I said oh I I learned from watching someone

2:31.6

else make it happen and he said hmm so you can watch someone else's light but you aren't

2:37.5

willing to be a light for someone else and you're going to hide that candle under a bushel.

2:44.0

Oh, that stopped me in my tracks right there.

2:47.0

So now I'm going to throw it your way and ask you,

2:50.0

are you hiding your candle because you've got the thought of bragging in your head and maybe you're like oh
