Summary

On the latest episode of The Mets Pod presented by Tri-State Cadillac, Connor Rogers and Joe DeMayo look at the road ahead for Pete Alonso and the Mets offseason. Connor and Joe discuss the money and years necessary for the Mets to bring back both Pete Alonso and Edwin Diaz, and they also talk about what the Mets can learn from the playoff exits of the Reds, Phillies, and Dodgers. Later, the guys recap their Mets 2025 preseason predictions (yikes), and dig back into the Mailbag to answer questions about prospects who could make the major leagues in 2026, the future for Brett Baty, the thought of Houston’s Hunter Brown as a possible trade target, and ideas for improving center field. Joe and I talk of the early rumors around Pete Alonzo's pending free agency. We take a look at the latest in the playoffs with both the Yankees and the Phillies being bounced. And of course, we're going to answer all your mailbag questions. But right in the middle of that, Joe, oh, it's going to be an interesting day because we are going to review our season

I'm your host, Connor Rogers, joined as always by my co-host, Joe DeMeo and Joe, the offseason, I would say, rolls on, but we're the only ones really in it right now. We're still watching actual baseball be played. We do have some rumors sprinkling in. But how are you, man? I know it's a hard question to say, are you enjoying the playoffs? Because it's hard to enjoy without the Mets in it. But I think the entertainment value has been very high. I'm enjoying it. I love baseball. Like I'm a Mets fan, obviously. I do his podcast, but I'm a diehard baseball fan. So I'm, I'm enjoying the playoffs and the fact that we are down to the final four, and we'll talk about it a little bit, but we're down to the final four. And, you know, it's three not huge payrolls into Dodgers. So it's a couple of Davids against Goliath.

1:47.1

And we're going to see how it all shakes out. And then before you know it, it's going to be over. And then we're going to be into full blown hot stove season. So let me start with the dumb question of the day. Do you think the Mets would have given the Dodgers a better run for their money than the Reds. Stop beat them. That's not the question.

2:19.5

Just a better showing. Or do you think we're back to the Dodgers who didn't have a, they didn't live up to expectations during the regular season and maybe they just don't care, but once again look like the playoff juggernaut that we all thought they would be. They're kind of the Kansas City Chiefs where it's just like,

2:21.6

ah, who really cares how the regular season goes,

2:23.1

win divisions, whatever,

2:25.5

but it's just about making to the playoffs and making a run.

2:31.5

I still think, and proof was into putting that it didn't work out this way,

2:33.2

the Mets were better than the Reds, so I think they

2:34.5

would have given a better showing in the series than Cincinnati did, but I guess we'll never know.

2:40.9

I think Noel McLean would have pitched really well in game one. You had the potential for a

2:46.1

Juan Soto moment, another Pete Alonzo moment, Lindor stepping up in the big moment.
