Greetings, Halloweenes, and welcome back to another episode of, well, you guessed it, Halloween's.

This is your host, Michael Myers-Roffman.

And today I'm introing an episode that we are unlocking this month to keep things themed on the devils. Devils, hells,

and all those demons that go bump in the night, many miles below us. I think that makes any sense.

Yes, it's 20266666. I think I did too many sixes there, but we're going to go with it. And we are

unlocking the House of the Devil, Ty West, 2009 classic, one of our favorite films of the

21st century, if you recall from our list in December. And this episode we recorded in

2024 in anticipation of Maxine. I don't know how you feel about Maxine,

but I do love that trilogy in the sense that it exists. I think Pearl is the best of the three

of them. But, you know, I think there was a lot of disgust and hubbub about Ty West being able to

nail the precision of a vintage picture without it looking like

the 80s slop that you often see when a film is just lazily titled, you know, something

vintage, and then you have a vintage poster, and then you watch the movie, and it looks like someone

just shot it on digital and put the, you know, a synth score on and

and maybe a veteran 80s actor in there to kind of be cheeky about it.

But it doesn't really feel like it's from that era.

And I would argue that the house the devil, if you had no idea who Tom Noonan was, and, you know, you've never seen heat.

You've never seen Manhunter. Honestly, it could honestly just be Tom Noonan from that And, you know, you've never seen Heat. You've never seen Manhunter.

Honestly, it could honestly just be Tom Noonan from that era since the guy never ages. So let's just say you didn't know where it was from. I think you'd be fooled. I think you'd honestly be fooled and think that this is a film that was lost in the 80s. kind of like how I felt when I first saw the strokes on MTV and thought, hey, is this a band that just,
