There is a house in New York that has been dubbed the House of Death.

Despite its pretty brownstone exterior, the building at 14 West 10th Street in Greenwich Village has a not so nice history.

Since being constructed in the 1850s, it's alleged that 22 people have died in the home, and some of their spirits seem to have never left.

Residents have reported sightings of the spirit of Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, who lived at the address

between 1900 and 1901, and other ghosts who seem to have haunted the building for over a century.

Shuffling footsteps, a ghost cat, and a ghastly smell have been noted by many of the residents.

Some of the newer residents have not been able to stay longer than a day, saying that

they're experienced whilst in the house was too much for them. Something sinister and horrible resided there,

and it was just too frightening for them to stay.

But that's not all.

To top it all off, a ghastly murder occurred in the building in 1987,

sealing the fate of this place as one of the most disturbing places in New York.
