Good morning. I'm Anna Palmer and welcome to The Daily Punch, brought to you by Punch Bull News. It's Thursday, June 20th, 2024. Let's get into the mix. Here are your Washington headlines of the day. Number one, we've got a deep dive into what Republican committee leadership could look like next year. Number two, some news. The NRCC outraises the D-Trip

for the first time this year. And number three, what's ahead in the Senate before the Republican

Convention? All right, let's get to it. Of course, power in Washington is everything.

It's something that Punchball News focuses a lot on. And this morning, we're looking at the House

GOPs committee scramble. Recently, we examined the landscape for committee chairs. If Democrats

take the House, this morning, we're talking landscape for committee chairs. If Democrats take the House,

this morning, we're talking about what happens for Republicans. House Republicans have six-year term limits for their committee chairs, which includes time spent as ranking member

in the minority. So certainly there are advantages and disadvantages to this approach.

Republicans like it because it means that you're not going to have the same person

sitting atop a committee for dozens of years, but it can be a disadvantage, being that committee

chairs only have six years to get things done.

We're going to focus today on the committees that are or could turn over next year first of all

really important committee the rules committee like the house intel committee it's a speaker

appointed panel that includes who gets to serve as chair there has been a bit of a handing of

the gavel here for republicans now, Representative Michael Burgess,

is the chair who he stepped in for Representative Tom Cole, who ran the panel before taking

the appropriations gavel after Representative Kay Granger stepped down from the post.
