Timestamp to skip straight to the case: (11:04)

A professor from Northeastern University believes “violent crimes increase by as much as 50% on Halloween, which is two times the daily average.”

In 2008, Arpana and her neighbors opened their apartment doors for a Halloween party.  Arpana dressed as ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ for the event.   After a night of festivities, Arpana headed to bed at around 3am.

When Arpana did not arrive at work on the following Monday, her family in India asked friends to go and check on her.  A family friend discovered Arpana’s beaten body in her apartment.

Now, 17 years later, Arpana’s murder remains unsolved.   Was she murdered by someone from her apartment complex or could a serial killer like Israel Keyes have been involved?

Thank you. What's up, guys, welcome back to the True Crime Society podcast with Stephanie and Olivia. It is October 26, 2025. And we are just a few days out from Halloween. This episode will be coming out the day before Halloween. So I hope that you guys are all excited and ready. This is going to be a Halloween episode. We did find another Halloween crime. We were looking for some because we've covered a lot over the years, but we're able to find a few more.

1:02.9

This one's maybe the craziest one, which I'm surprised we both hadn't heard of it before.

1:06.5

I feel like it's been one that's gone under the radar. Like I hadn't heard of it until I

1:10.4

came across it while searching for our Halloween crime, but it's one I feel like it's been one that's gone under the radar. Like, I hadn't heard of it until I came across it while searching for our Halloween crime,

1:12.7

but it's one I feel that probably could have been solved or more should have happened in the case,

1:19.0

and it hasn't for whatever reason.

1:21.5

Yeah.

1:22.2

So before you get into the case, we have to have our chat.

1:25.1

And my topic that I've brought to the table today, sorry,

1:28.5

chat haters, is since now I have a child, I decided that I was going to watch Casper and put on

1:34.5

child television while I sat there, even though he's not watching it. But I figured I'd get used to it.

1:41.2

And Casper was on it. And as a kid, I freaking loved Casper. I had a

1:46.0

Casper stuffed animal. Casper and a lot of girls will agree with me as crazy as it sounds.

1:50.5

Like, Casper is every girl my age's first crush basically, like for some reason.

1:55.6

Was it the Devon Sauer one? Is that the movie watched? Yeah. I do remember that when I was

2:00.2

growing up. Everyone loved him and loved that movie. Yeah. So, like, Casper was all of our boyfriends. But so now I'm watching it through the eyes of an adult. And I'm like, this movie's actually super dark and depressing. Like, as a kid, you don't realize it. And I find that with a lot of kids movies, kind of when you go back and watch them, that there's

2:18.4

always another kind of story in it for the adults. But it's so sad. It's about like the mom died and

2:25.7

the girl and her dad are living together and they're like trying to move on and cope with their
