Turn with me, please, this morning to 1st Samuel, the second chapter, and let's continue in a subject that we have been on for some weeks now, talking about the honor of God, and we have talked for some weeks about what honor is. Put very simply, honor is value or worth.

The word honor literally means heavy or weighty. And in olden times, they didn't have paper currency. They had metal, gold, and silver.

And if you went to buy something, if it was expensive, if it was cheap, I should say, you put just

a little bit of metal on the balance scales to say this is how much it costs, so you weigh the

metal. If it's really nice and really expensive,

it took a lot of metal. You had to put a lot of silver, a lot of gold on that plate to balance

out what it was worth. It was heavy. A heavy price was paid. We use all that terminology still

today, don't we? Paying a heavy price. If you're talking about something, is that a good item?

Yeah, it's a good heavy item.

Is that good?

No, it's a little light cheap thing.

Light.

Well, concerning the things of God,

you and I are to honor him

and his people and all his things.

How many believe? And in honoring that, that means you value

him. You're here this morning because you see a value in going to church. A lot of people are not

here this morning that could be here or should be here and in other churches.

Why aren't they here?

She must as well, they over slept.
