0:19.0

Hi.

0:20.0

How are you doing? How are you doing Janelle?

0:23.0

I'm doing good. Having a pretty good day. Lost to do, but I'm done. That's good. That's good. And welcome back Ashley. Helping me out again today.

0:32.0

Yeah, most welcome.

0:34.0

The home stretch podcast where we interview Olympians and world champions and just overall amazing people.

0:40.0

They tell us our stories, tell us about the obstacles that they've overcome so that we can learn from their stories and their experiences and get some tidbits on how to become successful and how to overcome in life.

0:51.0

So very happy to have you on Janelle just a little bit about your background. Some of your resume. You are a 2015 NCAA champion in the high jump representing the University of South Carolina, my alma mater, Gamecox. Of course.

1:06.0

You're a real Olympian, jumping for St. Lucia. You're also the flag bearer for your country. So that's wonderful. Personal best of what was that in the closing ceremony.

1:17.0

And the closing ceremony. Still pretty cool, pretty amazing. With a personal best of 1.96 in the high jump. What's that in and feed an inches for our late people?

1:28.0

I want to say six five.

1:32.0

Six on five. You hear this people can jump six feet, five inches in the air.

1:38.0

So she can jump over Adrian for sure. Clearly over me and like another foot. I'm not five five. I'm not five five, but you get my point.

1:48.0

2010 Carifted Bros. medalist in the high jump and a long jump. 2011 Common Wealth Youth Silver medalist, your 2012 CAC Junior champion in the high jump.

1:59.0

Oh, you have a lot of wins here and stuff like that. Meadows medals, medals, 2013 Carifted Champion in the high jump and 2013 CAC Games Silver medalist.

2:09.0

So quite a few medals on your resume. And as the folks who have heard the podcast before, if you're winning medals at the Carifted Championship, you're wanting to top up and come in athletes out of the Caribbean. So very big deal.

2:22.0

And so we want to get started on on your story and how you got started in Shrek and Field. The first thing is I saw you were born in Jamaica. Is that correct?

2:32.0

Yes, I was born.

2:35.0

A lot of people are really surprised to find that out.

2:39.0

So my parents were, my dad was at school at the time and my mom was working there. So that's why I was born there.

2:46.0

We left actually only two years after I was born. So I wouldn't, I wouldn't say that I'm Jamaican. I'm not sure that I have lived there long enough to be able to claim it.

2:56.0

But I was born there. So maybe some of my athletic talent came from just breathing the air.
