Welcome to another episode of The Homestretch w/Adrian Durant, where we meet and have conversations with some of the most inspiring and elite athletes, coaches and sports personalities. Our today’s' guest Eddie Lovett is a professional sprinter who specializes in the 110 meters hurdles. Eddie represents U.S. Virgin Islands in international events and has also represented United States. Lovett won a gold medal in the 110 meters hurdles at the 2011 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships. He has also represented U.S. Virgin Islands in 2016 Rio Olympics, World Championships and various other international track & field events.

In this interview with Eddie Lovett, Palm Beach Lakes class of 2010 alumni, former Florida Gator, and 2016 Olympian Eddie Lovett shares his journey of becoming a pro athlete. He talks about his time at University of Florida and running for the college team. He shares, how he was initially into football and why he pivoted to track & field, specifically hurdles. Eddie also talks about how much he was affected after the loss of his father and how he used his personal tragedy to motivate himself on the track and went on to win the NCAA Indoor 60m Hurdles in meet record time. We will also talk about Eddie's current life events and future plans.

0:51.7	Congratulations. You're going to be repping the vi at the 2020 2021. I don't know what they call
0:59.0	it now the Tokyo game. 2021 something. And this will be your second your second Olympic games
1:08.5	because you rep the vi in 2016. Yes sir. Yeah a little bit about Eddie's resume. Eddie was a
1:15.2	Pan Am Jr champion SEC champion and NCAA champion indoor and outdoor. Also broke that NCAA 60 meter
1:23.7	hurdle record indoor fourth and round the fourth fastest time in NCAA history. I don't know if
1:30.3	that's changed in the past couple years, but still one of the top times. Yeah. As a person,
1:37.0	as a person, I'm still like top 10, but the times. They're not they're not themselves.
1:42.8	Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And the US National Record holder in the 110 hurdles are a personal best of
1:50.8	1343 and going to better that out there in Tokyo and repping the vi and see what you could do out there
1:59.2	making us proud. So Eddie, you've been running for a long time. How did you get started? Where did you
2:05.0	come up? Well, check it. Check it. Feel as a as a whole. It was the most it was a sport for me to
2:13.2	get better in my original sport. I've been athlete my whole life. I started off playing baseball.
2:19.6	My dad played baseball. He started playing in version houses and then he got he got
2:24.8	gone to the minor leagues, played some minor league ball for the Van the Car and those and so on
