Welcome to another episode of The Homestretch w/Adrian Durant, where we meet and have conversations with some of the most inspiring and elite athletes, coaches and sports personalities. Out today's guest is an extremely inspiring personality not only because of his achievements but also he has one of the most inspiring journeys of becoming a pro athlete. Mikel Thomas is an International Hurdler who represents Trinidad and Tobago in the 110m Hurdles. Mikel competed in the 110 m hurdles event in 3 Olympics in a row, at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. He has been a National Champion seven times and is also a National record holder. Mikel has also proved his mettle at international level by winning Pan American Games and NACAC championships in 2015.

Every athlete is made up from struggle and hard work and Mikel also had his share of hard times. In this podcast, Mikel Thomas will share his inspiring story of fulfilling his dream of becoming a pro athlete. From getting homeless to running out of funds, Mikel talks about all the struggles and hardships he faced not only at the beginning of his career but throughout his career. Mikel moved to the U.S. when he was 7 and he has fought his way since then to become what he is now. We also talk with Mikel about, how his life is now and what are his future plans.
