When I go back and read my journal one of these years through the months of November and December of 1983 and January of 1984, there are going to be two dominant motifs that I'll read.

One will come under the title frontier missions and the other will come under the title

wartime mentality.

More than ever in my life, the stark reality of thousands of people groups

unreached by the peaceful Western Church has been branded on my brain. More and more it

troubles my heart.

The logic of love becomes more and more irresistible.

If you love the lost, you will seek, you will love the lost you will seek you will earnestly seek to rescue them from

perishing if you love the glory of God, then you will work and labor and pray to overcome the

obstacles to the knowledge of that glory and remove the belittling of that glory that covers this globe in unbelieving peoples.

The blinders are beginning to fall away from our eyes and the

bombshells of the unseen war are beginning to explode with unutterable and horrible brightness around some of us at Bethlehem.

And I'm coming to see the peacetime mentality that dominates our church and the churches

of the Baptist General Conference by and large as a tactical victory of Satan, the result of a kind of nerve gas from Satan's arsenal of chemical

weaponry that gives the soldiers of Christ a kind of stupor or others a kind of

of religious euphoria and eventually puts them to sleep at the gates of the enemy.

It makes them utterly oblivious to the cries of the POWs behind the walls.

Who but Satan could devise a chemical weapon which when spread across the Army of Christ could make it content

simply to have worship services and small group meetings at the door of the dungeon.

Picture the Allied troops landing in Germany, end of World War II, and marching victoriously overland towards the smoke coming up from the ovens at Dachau.

And when they get to the gates of that concentration, from the ovens at Dachau.
