Our text this morning comes from 2nd Peter, the first chapter, versus 12 through 21.

Therefore, I intend always to remind you of these things, though you know them, and are established in the truth that you have.

I think it right as long as I am in this body to arouse you by way of reminder,

since I know that the putting off of my body will be soon as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me.

And I will see to it that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things.

For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

For when he received honor and glory from God the Father,

and the voice was born to him by the majestic glory,

this is my beloved son with whom I am well pleased.

We heard this voice born from heaven, for we were with him on the

holy mountain, and we have the prophetic word made more sure. You will do well to pay attention

to this, as to a lamp shining in a dark place until the day

dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

First of all, you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one's own

interpretation because no prophecy ever came by the impulse of man but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

On June 27, 1819, Adnarem Judson, after seven years of ministry in Burma, baptized his first convert.

His wife and Hazeltine had been very instrumental in winning Mung now to the Lord and she records

how the scriptures had played a role in this. She wrote, a few days ago I was reading with him, Christ's sermon on the mount.

He was deeply impressed and unusually solemn.

Said he, these words take hold on my liver they make me tremble.

God spoke through Isaiah 2,700 years ago to this effect.

This is the man to whom I will look.
