Today we are making good on a promise that was made back in the spring of 2022.

It was on a trip to test some new K2 skis in Mazama, Washington with North Cascade Heli.

And while recording a Gear 30 podcast with K2 ski designer Jed Yizer and K2 skier McKenna Peterson, we agreed that one day

we would have a Blister Book Club conversation about the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

And folks, today is that day.

Now, admittedly, before we started recording this conversation, I really wasn't sure

if anybody else other than the three of us was going to be into it. But now, I am confident that

lots of you are going to enjoy this, and I am even more confident that, for reasons we lay out

in this conversation, this strange

little book seems to only be gaining more relevance for us all today.

Plus, you're going to learn about the sport of ski boxing.

You're going to get a sneak peek at the name of what is sure to be a future K2 ski,

and you get to decide whether you agree with my suggestion that Vanilla Ice was influenced by this book.

Now, one other thing, the timing of the recording of this conversation was pretty interesting

because McKenna Peterson also happens to be a blister plus member, and as many of you know,

she had blown her knee while filming in Alaska a couple seasons ago, and that has then

required her to have three surgeries and lots of physical

therapy. And the great news here is that McKenna's third surgery seems to have gone extremely

well. She was actually still in Colorado, having just had her third surgery when we recorded this conversation,

and the knee now appears to be doing great.
