| 0:56.6 | DEI policies, of school curriculums, further backtracking on teaching Black History, |
| 1:02.4 | it got me thinking about the history of Black History Month. And yeah, and interestingly, |
| 1:09.8 | I mean, it makes sense. Some of you have recently written in about it. And I was like, oh, timing. Yes. I love it. Yes. Because we have commented before on this show that Black History Month is in February because February is the shortest month of the year, |
| 1:28.4 | but that is actually not the case. |
| 1:31.2 | So, let us set the record straight. |
| 1:36.0 | But before we do, here's a bit of a disclaimer. |
| 1:40.6 | Sometimes we run into this issue on Sminty, wherein we want to talk about important things, but there's language in the history that we are not sure as appropriate for us to say, in this case as non-black people. |
| 1:55.7 | So that being said, there are some organizational and outlet names in here that I'm going to refer to by their |
| 2:03.0 | current names because they did change their name as the times changed and not what they |
| 2:08.3 | were called back then. And we do go back and forth on this because we don't want to erase the |
| 2:14.3 | history of it, but it also just doesn't feel right for us to say it. |
