I'm about ready to run off the golf course Welcome. Welcome to the Friday Golf Podcast. I'm Garrett Morrison and today we're talking

about the history of the Golf Architecture at Augusta National Golf Club. This is the fifth

installment of our great courses series. These are basically deep dives into

golf courses that have really shaped the game.

And my guest for this episode is Joshua Pettit.

Josh is a golf architect and a historical researcher.

His firm is called Pacific Golf Design,

and he's also the founder of the Alistair Mackenzie Institute.

Recently Josh edited and published The Mackenzie Reader, which is a truly impressive collection of Alistair Mackenzie's writings on golf architecture and more.

And today, Josh and I are going to dig into where the golf course at Augusta National

came from.

Of course, a gust Augusta National was designed by Bobby Jones and

Alister Mackenzie, and so Josh knows a great deal about its origins, what it was like initially,

what its philosophy of design was, how it evolved over time.

Josh has a lot of information about those subjects and, you know, a lot of stuff that I really didn't know before I started talking to him.

So I'm really looking forward to this conversation.
