Summary

Florida was a major story on election night, with Republicans winning a county which went for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and President Biden in 2020. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Senator Marco Rubio won their reelections, and by turning out Latino voters for the GOP in their state, they decisively won the former-Democrat stronghold in Florida--Miami-Dade County. Mayor of Miami Francis X. Suarez joins the Rundown to explain how the Republican party in Florida was able to so effectively connect with Hispanic voters, the importance of these victories, and the potential political impact of Florida turning solidly red. According to the FOX News Decision Desk, Republicans are currently expected to win back control of Congress. As the balance of power shifts, Congressman Kevin McCarthy is hoping to go from House Minority Leader to Speaker of the House. FOX News Congressional Correspondent Chad Pergram joins the Rundown to discuss how the GOP's slim majority could have an impact on their congressional agenda and who may challenge McCarthy for the speakership. Thursday, November 10th, 2022, I'm Jessica Rosenthal. It may not have been a red wave across the

country, but the nation's third most populous state went GOP up and down the ballot. Now the

0:20.7

question is why will it last and do Republicans across the country take note? We saw here now

0:27.4

is an order of magnitude increase from winning the state by 100,000 in 2016, 400,000 in 2020 to a

0:35.2

million and a half, which I think puts Florida solidly red. I'm Jared Halpern. It wasn't the wave

Republicans wanted, complicating a path for a number of potential GOP leaders. Don't come at

the king unless you're able to defeat the king. So Kevin McCarthy is still in the cat

bird seed right now. And I'm Tommy Laren. I've got the final word on the Fox News rundown.

On Tuesday, election night began with results out of Florida. It wasn't a good night for the GOP

there. It was a great night. Thanks to the overwhelming support of the people of Florida. We not only

1:14.7

want election. We have rewritten the political map. And they literally did. Governor

1:20.6

Ronda Santis pushed through a new map and redistricting adding four Republican leaning seats

1:25.6

and pulled that out. House Republicans will control 20 seats out of 28 after Florida gained a district.

But as Tuesday night unfolded, the numbers out of the different counties started to shake out.

And Miami Dade went red for the first time in years. And people like former Clinton

1:41.5

pollster Mark Penn took note telling our Fox News Radio election night coverage. It's unprecedented

1:47.2

really for a Republican to win Miami Dade. And the margin that Ronda Santis has racked up is

1:54.2

truly impressive. I don't think there's any question about that. The Democratic Party has

1:58.4

collapsed pretty much in Florida. And as Republicans dominated the state, Senator Marco Rubio

2:04.3

sailed to victory in his Senate seat, saying the results were the beginning of something.

They have joined this incredible new movement that isn't just going to change the country.
