Welcome to the Dr. Berg's Healthy Keto and Interminute Fasting Podcast, where Dr. Berg takes you on the journey for the truth about getting healthy and losing healthy weight. So let's talk about the highest blood sugar ever recorded in history.

0:27.5

It was recorded in 2008 by a type 1 diabetic, a child named Michael Patrick Buna core.

0:36.5

Now think about what normal blood sugar is. Okay, it's like 80

0:39.4

milligrams per deciliter. His blood sugars were 2,656 milligrams per decilator. I mean, this is

0:50.5

like astronomical. I mean, I've heard people having blood sugars of 300, 400, 500,

0:55.8

500, and 600, but that's when they usually go into a coma.

0:59.2

So this just blew me away of how high a blood sugar could actually get.

1:03.5

Now, realize you have insulin that is constantly buffering the sugar.

1:07.4

It's taking the sugar out of your blood constantly.

1:10.2

And he was a type 1 diabetic, so

1:11.8

he didn't have any insulin. Obviously, you didn't take his medication. So his blood sugars just

1:16.2

went, you know, kept going higher and higher. Now, ingesting one gram of glucose, okay,

1:22.6

will raise your blood sugars about roughly five milligrams for decilative. So just think about how much sugar

1:29.4

someone would have to consume to raise their blood sugars over 2,000 milligrams per decilator.

1:36.3

But again, you have to take in consideration insulin because insulin is going to come in there

1:39.4

and take it out of the blood. But if you have insulin resistance or you're pre-diabetic or diabetic,

1:44.8

that's going to be a problem because with insulin resistance, you might be pumping out all this

1:49.1

insulin, but it's not working to lower your blood sugars. It's why the blood sugars start

1:53.5

increasing. Now, today I want to talk about something very, very interesting. That relates to

1:58.1

blood sugars. It's not just sugar that will raise your blood sugars.

2:02.4

It could also be stress. Now let me explain. When you go through stress, your body needs

2:08.4

quick energy. So your liver is going to start making glucose, okay? And it's nothing to do with your
