Summary

It’s a festive episode with a special High Low nativity play; written by professional screenwriter (as you will be able to tell) Dolly - and sponsored by frankincense and myrrh.

As Amazon and John Lewis declare ambitions to open their end of year sales on Christmas Day itself, and the Bishop of Cambridge descends into outrage, we talk the evolution of ‘family time’ and whether online shopping during a day of rest (and/or religion) is a moral issue or merely one of ease and convenience. What about all the people that don’t celebrate Christmas? And side note: HOW has Amazon only just launched in Australia?

Also up for discussion, Twitter finally rules against hate speech - with the leaders of far right party Britain First suspended from Twitter for Islamaphobic fake news (which was retweeted by Covfefe Trump - natch.) We discuss censorship versus the oft hackneyed cliché of free speech: and why a bigot is not one size fits all.

When my friends and I were single, the Derb Dictionary and Wild, we realised that quite often

0:49.7

the week or a couple of weeks before December, you'd meet someone at a party and end up having

0:55.6

this sort of fun wild, pre-Christmas special, normally never to see them again in January.

1:01.2

So you haven't had one this December? No, I haven't had one and also... Even in that jumper?

1:05.8

No, haven't had one. Haven't had so much to Christmas snorke and I haven't been part of

that much and I've still ended up with Christmas Lurgy. Every single year. What I love about

1:16.4

Christmas is that everything can just be perfect with Christmas, like you haven't ended up

1:19.7

with Christmas Lurgy. No, Christmas Lurgy. So last year's Christmas special of the Pandoli

1:44.5

with Frances Bull from Made in Chelsea and then he arrived and we were already

pretty hoond. So it became this quite strange dynamic. Well that was all about his childhood

1:54.6

work with the Pangolins. But I mean... It was very nice to come but it was pretty...

1:58.8

As a Pangolin platform it was probably a not like the best partnership. But you know it was

an interesting one. Anyway, this year we're both sober, older, wiser. Definitely wiser,
