Summary
When her family moved into an old Pennsylvania house, the upstairs landing never felt right. As kids, she and her sister dreaded the back hallway, especially at night, when it felt like someone was already standing there waiting.
For years, the family brushed it off as nerves and old-house noises. Then a renovation in the back bedroom uncovered a small wooden door sealed behind the closet wall. Behind it was an unfinished attic space, an old chair, and the unsettling question of why anyone had hidden it in the first place.
After that, the footsteps upstairs became harder to dismiss—especially for her father, who heard movement when no one else was home. But he kept most of it from the kids.
