protected in this country. At least I don't think of war. I don't want to think of it. I lost the boy and I don't want to think of it.

These voices reflect an anxiety which would appear to have become a part of our daily life.

For the atomic age while bringing certain benefits to mankind has also brought fear as a byproduct.

In a world divided and condemned to a nearly permanent state of crisis,

is vulnerable to attack, is indeed the target.

While the extent of the actual danger

may not always be apparent, each succeeding crisis

carries the menace that it will this time lead to hostilities.

As now in the case of Berlin, latest, though oldest point of friction in the continuing

war of nerves between East and West. In the course of the next 45 minutes we

will examine some of the threats that face this country, what the implications

of this period of revolutionary change may be for us, how we could be expected to react to

an enemy attack on the day called X.
