How did a thoroughly Christian culture give rise to the very ideas that seek to kill it? Constantinople was conquered by the Ottoman Turks. Western civilization has never been conquered from without; it is being conquered from within. How do philosophies like deism, fatalism, Marxism, atheism, and secular humanism arise from within the confines of the Christian theological culture that is Western civilization? Also, why are there always exactly two sides to every fundamental disagreement? Why is it either liberal or conservative, sovereignty or freedom, rational or volitional, meticulous order or complete chaos, Catholic or Protestant, Lutheran or Reformed, God or humanity, the one or the many? Why is there never a third option, or even an option that can bypass the dichotomy? This book attempts to provide a framework that seeks to begin answering some of those questions. The answer may be something very ancient and almost forgotten in today’s world. Theological decisions were made long ago that planted the seeds for the destruction of both church and civilization. | 1:02.4 | Tell us a little bit about yourself before we jump in. |
| 1:05.8 | Well, I am originally from West Virginia, so a shout out to the hills. |
| 1:12.9 | I did my PhD, like you said, at Southeastern in Systematic Theology. |
| 1:18.4 | I moved down here to Charlotte, North Carolina, about 11 years ago, and I can currently work in the PhD program of biblical exposition at Liberty University's |
| 1:30.9 | Rowling School of Divinity. I've been doing that now for four years, but I've been at Liberty |
| 1:35.0 | for I think 16 now. I got married, got three kids, two of them driving. It's the transition |
| 1:43.2 | phase of growing from childhood to adulthood. |
| 1:46.3 | Life's pretty interesting, pretty full. I'm there with you. I've got a 15-year-old at home myself, |
| 1:50.8 | so we're in that process. So extra prayers for that, especially. Tell us a little bit about |
| 1:57.9 | your area of expertise. I know when our audience tunes in, they want to know, you know, maybe a little bit about who we're talking to your fields of study, how those combined with what we're talking about even today with sochiology. |
| 2:12.1 | Well, my dissertation topic was on paraccharesis as a third type of paraccharesis as the soterological union of the believer in Christ, |
| 2:25.1 | that we share the same kind of relationship that the father and son share, although a created one rather than uncreated. |
