Many people want the presence of the spirit, the power of the spirit, without the person of the spirit.

Jesus was getting ready to leave.

He was going to the cross, he was going to be crucified, rise from the dead, and 40 days later he would ascend to heaven.

And he knew that this perspective of him leaving would leave his followers in a slump.

They wouldn't know how to make it when he was not here.

So he called for a meeting with them in the upper room just before it was

time for him to go to the cross to give them instructions on how to make it when he would be no longer

here.
