This summer, Europe and much of the United States have experienced unusual heat.

In places as far flung as England and Utah, the highest temperatures ever recorded.

And the heat wave has in turn prompted new calls to do something about global warming.

Our guest today says we should cool it.

President of the Copenhagen Consensus Center, Dr. Bjorn Lomborgh is the author of a number of books,

including the 2001 Best Seller, The Skeptical Environmentalist,

and most recently his 2020 volume, Faults Alarm,

how climate change panic costs us trillions, hurts the poor, and fails to fix the planet.

Question one, the dog days of summer, we're speaking in the middle of August.

So far this summer, the United Kingdom has experienced a temperature of more than 104 degrees.

I'm giving everything in Fahrenheit here.

Of course.

104 degrees, that's the highest Britain has ever recorded.

In the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, and Germany, some 4,600 have died of heat-related causes.

Here in the United States, Newark, New Jersey has, for the first time in history,

recorded temperatures of more than 100 degrees on five consecutive days.

Utah, again for the first time in history, has recorded temperatures of more than 100 degrees for 16 consecutive days.
