Summary

When Jesus shared the Beatitudes, it was as though He was sharing a rare string of pearls that identify true Christian character. In his eight-part series, The Master's Manifesto, Michael Youssef explains that Christ-exalting character can only be exhibited in one who has a personal and transforming relationship with Jesus Christ -- the source of all Christian character.

0:00.0	During any political season, we have grown accustomed now to hearing some words such as sincerity, integrity, unity, honesty, traditional values.
0:13.6	And then on the other side of the ledges, of course, we hear words like hypocrisy, dishonesty, lack of integrity, disingenuenueness, which I really didn't know what it means,
0:23.4	I had to look it up, and basically it's a nice way of saying lying. That's what it is.
0:29.0	And I focused on this, and thought about this in the light of the beatitude that we are going to
0:33.3	look to in a minute. And it is some of it, and I'm not saying all of it, but some of it,
0:39.1	is really man's attempt to try to be good without God. And as we have been seeing throughout
0:45.9	this series of sermons on the master's manifesto that it is impossible to be good without God.
0:52.9	Without the basis for integrity, all of our talk is just that.
0:59.0	Without the foundation of honesty, what we have is a building without the foundation.
1:05.4	Without the anchor for purity and goodness, we have a ship that's adrift.
1:12.5	Without knowing the reason for singleness of purpose and undivided hearts,
1:19.1	we have a bunch of hot air.
1:21.8	All the talk about character without personally knowing the author and the giver of character, is as hollow as an
1:30.6	empty shell. And that is what the sixth beatitude in Matthew 5.8 is all about. Turn to it with me
1:38.2	in your Bibles, Matthew 5.8. We are in the midst of this series of sermons entitled, The Master's Manifesto,
1:46.3	looking at the beatitudes of the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
1:54.4	Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. This beatitude, if you focus on it just for even a short period of time,
2:03.3	you realize that it encompasses the whole Bible. This beatitude is as vast as the scripture itself.
2:12.1	This beatitude is what the Christian faith is all about. It is impossible to deal with it just in one message, but I'm going to try.
2:22.4	But I must tell you at the outset what I have said before,
2:25.9	that pure in heart does not mean sinlessness.
2:29.6	If that is the case, none of us are going to see God.
