Summary

Episode 103. This week I’m sitting down with someone who has been my biggest supporter since day one, my dad- Craig Norton. We talk about fatherhood from his perspective, what it means to be an involved parent, the challenges and joys that come with raising kids, and the lessons he’s carried with him through every stage of life. He also shares his thoughts on wellness, staying active, marriage, and aging gracefully.

He also shares a little bit of relationship advice, reflections on family values, and a few memories that made us who we are today. This one feels like sitting at the kitchen table with us, just listening to us talk about family and all the ways we’ve grown together over the years.

You're listening to the Wellness Herway podcast. I'm your host, Gracie Norton, and I'm so excited to

0:13.0

provide you with the space where you get to shape what wellness feels like to you.

0:16.8

Wellness Her Way is where we make a home of our body, mind, and soul, instead of jumping on trends for short-term results.

0:23.0

We've got one body. We're going to nourish it, love it, respect it, and embrace it through all its forms.

0:35.0

My mom's getting the boot.

0:36.3

I don't even overcoach the entire time. Say this, say that. Just let a star be a star. You know? Yeah, let a star be a star. That's rock and roll. Are we recording? We are. Are we recording yet? We are. Showtime, baby. Okay. All right. We've kicked mom out of the house. She was overcoaching dad and we wanted to be the purest form of...

0:58.6

The most authentic form. It's so funny because they have prepared very differently for the podcast. So you guys know I had my mom on. And if you haven't listened to that, I'll link it in the description. But, you know, she wanted to be ultra prepared for all the questions and make sure she was delivering for you guys. And my dad was like, don't even tell me what the questions are. I'm the antithesis of being over-repared. I want the questions off the cuff. There you go. I'll let you take away the intro because you've listened to the podcast a few times, so go ahead and

1:27.7

take it away. Well, thank you for listening to Gracie's Loess Her Way. Hello and welcome back

1:33.4

to another episode of Wellness Her Way. Okay. Hello and welcome back to another episode of Wellness

1:38.6

Her Way, Gracie Norton's podcast. I'm thrilled to be here. I'm her father, Craig Norton. And I've had the pleasure of watching

1:46.2

Gracie grow up. And it's been an exciting ride. And we're going to jump into some questions

1:51.7

about, I guess, how you were raised and... Family. We're going to talk about some relationship advice.

1:57.9

You guys send in some really great questions. We'll get into just life

2:01.3

lessons and wisdom, our relationship, and yeah, kind of everything in between. You guys seem to

2:07.3

really love these episodes where I have my family on. And if anything, it'll just be a fun memory

2:12.8

to look back on and always have our conversation. But yeah, you're an avid wellness survey listener. My dad listens

2:18.4

to just about every episode, I would say, will give me feedback. And he was the person I called when I

2:23.7

recorded my first episode. And I was like, I don't know if I can do this. I don't know. Can

2:29.2

you listen, please? And he was like, you're going to be fine. You got this. Yeah. I was a mess. I was just trying to instill confidence. And you didn't need a lot of that, but a little bit possibly. And I felt like you were, you know, out of the gate, you were kind of a natural. And I think it's, I think people over-analyze their own voice and podcast. You know, it's hard to do that. But I think you just got to let it fly. You just got to let it go. Yeah. But it's so funny because I'm sure you guys listening, you know, if you go back and you listen to my first podcast, it's just like when you first start, your first anything's not going to be great, regardless of the fact that I've been creating content and talking to a camera, like having a podcast and being on a podcast as a guest is just such a different experience than speaking to a camera. So I don't know, let this be a reminder that if you're starting something new or even you're watching people online, you're like, oh my gosh, they must have it all figured out. They never doubt themselves. Like, you know, it's tough when you first get started, but it was super helpful to have my parents' advice.

3:24.5

They're always the people that I tend to send, whether it's like videos or, you know, the first episode, too, and just be like, hey, did I suck at this? We try to give great advice and not screw up too much, right? Yeah, exactly. And just let you do your thing. Yeah. So out of all the episodes you've listened to, what's been one of your favorite ones so far, just the one that's stuck with you the most? Oh, man, that's so hard. You've had so many great podcasts. I'm just trying to think through your guest. And I guess for me, having your mom on was, you know, it's very touching. It's hard to pick just one, to be honest with you. But I'd say your mom's right at the top of the list.

3:59.6

Oh, great answer.
