When we talk about the Guild of the Age, it's usually about the upper cross, the big

money Newport's side.

But there were a group of women who were trailblazing at the same time as Mrs. Zasters 400, or

having a ball in New York.

When you think about women of the Wild West, you think of Annie Oakley, Bell Stark,

Lamity Jane, but the Harvey Girls were as much a part of the Guild of the Age in the Wild

West as those women, all while wearing starched white pinniforce, puffy black sleeve dresses,

and bows in their hair.

Let's talk about Fred Harvey and the Harvey Girls.

But first, let's drop them into history.

In 1883, ladies' home journal was first published.

The International Colonial and Export Exposition, otherwise known as the Amsterdam World's Fair

was held, passengers could first travel in style via train, ferry, another train, and

a carriage on the Orient Express from Paris to Constantinople.

Buffalo Bill's Wild West show premiered.

Treasure Island was first published, and the Brooklyn Bridge opened.
