The Dallas Mavericks are in desperate need of a guy who can handle the ball and take over for

Kyrie as we expect him out for a good portion of the season next season.

And it looks like they are turning their attention towards veteran DeAngelo Russell on what

appears to be a two-year $12 million deal.

Now Russell is 29.

He has a history with Anthony Davis.

He was a teammate with him with the Lakers before he was traded to Brooklyn.

Now, DJ, your thoughts on this guy, I would say this is a really good, this is a good move. You need a ball handler and somebody

that can create shots, but also distribute to others. And I think this was a good pickup at least

while Kyrie is out. I mean, it's, it's fine. You know, I don't know that it gets them over the top i think it's a little

suspicious given how much he has made in his career that he is available for the mid-level

exception he had a down year last year it's a little suspicious where he was trending toward

i i mean i don't know i don't know if it's even trending i mean

he was making 30 million dollars a year just a few years ago so this is not a league where you

generally fall off a cliff like that money wise usually you're still going to get paid a pretty

penny so i don't know exactly what that says about his current state of just being an NBA player.

I will say just looking at the depth chart right now and trying to ignore all of the chaos that's happened the last six months with this team,

if you're talking about with no Kyrie having a depth chart potentially of DeAngelo Russell,

Brandon Williams, and Dante Exum, who they still have to sign. It looks like the move is probably

OMAX Prosper and maybe Jaden Hardy jettisoned in trades in order to clear a little bit of

cap space in order to bring back Dante Exum because I think Exum does one thing that none of the

other guards on the team do. He can actually stay in front of an opposing point guard one on one.
