Big news in the Dallas Stars universe today that you might not have even known was a thing.

But it was.

And that's why Jim Nill signed a contract extension today for two more years, kind of out of nowhere.

Didn't really, and honestly, since he took this job, which was April of 2013, maybe May of 2013,

the start of the Victory Green era, I do believe, was Jim Nell being hired and Tyler Sagan's trade and Victory Green.

And I think Patrick Sharp was also acquired that summer.

I'm trying to remember how it all fits together,

but since that day, there has been almost zero drama with Jim Nill and his era. He has signed

numerous extensions, and this is the latest one.

In fact, Robert Tiffin, the excellent hockey writer,

who can be found out there as an independent writer.

He actually has the dates.

In January 16th, he signed a five-year extension through 2023.

September 22nd, he signed another extension through 2024.

July of 23, two more years till 2026 and then this one, two years through 2028.

So I guess he was about to expire.

Yeah, this summer.

And we weren't even talking about it?
