Northington coming to you from Book Riot and today's guest is author Amanda Jayatissa.

Welcome Amanda. Hi, Jen. Thank you for having me. Yes, we're so excited to have you. So you are the author

of the thriller My Sweet Girl and your new book, You're Invited,

has just been published. And it takes place at a lavish Sri Lankan wedding celebration that not

everyone will survive. It's just come out. I've seen it compared to crazy rich Asians as like

the bloodier version, which cracked me up. Yeah, crazy rich Asians as like the bloodier version, which cracked me up.

Yeah.

Yeah.

That's, I mean, that sounds like an interesting update to me.

Will you tell our listeners a little bit about who you are as a reader as well as an author. Yeah, of course. So as a reader,

I try very hard to read as widely as I possibly can, but I often find myself always gravitating

towards thrillers and mysteries and suspense and just, you know, things with a

sprinkling of dead bodies and blood and horror and war and things like that.

I do tend to veer towards sort of the darker side of things, which is really funny for

people that know me actually actually, because I'm

such a goofball in real life, I guess, just like very awkward and like always making these jokes

that no one's laughing at except me. And, you know, like, hey, if you can't laugh at your own jokes,

right? Well.
