It looked exactly like what I saw the first time, but it almost looked bigger, like it grew up.

For as long as Evelyn can remember, something has lived in their family's house with them,

and in the middle of an ordinary afternoon, something changed.

My name is Edwin, and here is Evelyn's true, scary story.

I was born and raised in Miami, Florida.

My family immigrated here from Cuba.

Growing up, I lived in my grandma's house because our house wasn't yet built.

My parents ended up buying this one house

while it was still in construction.

So they saw the whole construction process and everything.

After a few years of being in that house,

there would be moments where I as a kid would just be like something scary here.

There were like certain parts of the house like corners that I just refused to go near and I just did not like it.

But I never knew why. The first time that I genuinely

remember like something that like I just can't explain was many years after that when I was

around 12 years old.

Back then, I used to sleep with my bedroom door open.

My room was right next to my younger brother's room, who was like six at the time.

Just in case, like, my parents didn't hear him, like, crying or fussing in the room,

I left my room open so didn't hear him like crying or fussing in the room, I left my room open

so I could hear him. One night I just woke up randomly in the middle of the night. I do that.

And I went to the restroom, I came back and, you know, I'm laying down trying to go back to sleep.
