All right, TJ is with us. We're talking through week one and now getting to the Bears game. Rico, you had something for him and I'll give him a Caleb Williams stat momentarily. But please, Rico. Yeah, TJ has an offensive lineman when you hear like, you know, it was I guess plays where two guys were running one play and three guys are running the other play. Like how does that happen? Like when we hear that, we're like, well, weren't you guys in the same? Well,

0:24.2

normally, and three guys are running the other play. Like, how does that happen? Like, when we hear that, we're like, well, weren't you guys in the same huddle? Well, it mostly happens when you make adjustments. So NFL football is you normally get at least two plays in the huddle. Hey, we're going to line up here. We're running this play. If we get a certain defense, I'm going to check it. You see Jared Gough, you see every quarterback. Right. You know, kill, kill, kill, or whatever they want to say, right? Overflip. These are all words to let you know that you want to run the other way, right? And you have a lot of game playing plays where, hey, this week we want to run inside zone to the three technique. And if you're playing a team that, hey, they line up in an overfront, underfront, you know, you've got to be prepared to change. So you might start with a play call, get up to the line, find the three technique. Hey, flip, flip, we want to go the other way. That's where a lot of times I think you can get the miscommunication where a guy just doesn't hear the adjustment. And that's what sounded like happened, you know, that one play

on the goal line. Lucky it wasn't a safety. But, you know, even Decker, who's a 10-year

1:19.5

veteran, said I was blocking the same play. Tate was. And I think that, you know, not trying to

1:26.2

make losing Frank a huge deal. Obviously, we know we miss

1:30.0

his presence in there, but that's also the benefit of having veteran guards next to your center

1:37.2

because the way that the lions like to operate is when you're on the road in crowd noise,

1:41.5

your center's got his head between his legs to look down for the leg kick or the hand motion from your quarterback. You might put your head down and, hey, I got a nose tackle head up over my, you know, right over my helmet. And then next time I pick my helmet up, oh, I got a three tag. You know, like that changes what you have to do. If you have veteran guards next to you, they're talking to you.

2:00.9

They're telling you, hey, a single just went to a double because this guy moved,

2:05.6

and you can do it without having to pause or really think too much.

2:10.8

And look, Tate and, you know, Mahogany, they're going to get there.

2:14.7

They're going to have to get there because I guarantee every team is going to watch and say, you know, hey, when your veteran center puts his head down, you know, like we're going to change the defense so they can't communicate. They're going to have to get there because you have to do that. That's part of a requirement if that's the way you want to operate with the center looking back. Some teams like to do it with the guards.

2:35.2

Some teams will look back with the guard. So the center can be the guy to, you know, communicate and adjust and tell you what what the moving pieces are. Everybody's different, though. So, you know, those, I'm sure those guards are going to learn a lot from this past game, you know, last Sunday. And good thing is, you know,

2:51.5

at least this week you got a home game. So you shouldn't have guys going the wrong way. You shouldn't have those no communications. Yeah. Well, it didn't stop the bears from five false starts in a home game. Yeah, that was wild. Let's just, I want to ask this because the problem that happens is you think your team's the only one who's got a right to get better.

3:08.3

All right, I thought the Bears were largely disastrous.

3:11.1

Even when they were... the problem that happens is you think your team's the only one who's got a right to get better.

3:08.3

All right, I thought the Bears were largely disastrous.

3:11.0

Even when they were up 17-6, it didn't look right.

3:14.0

It was awful.

3:15.8

The Caleb Williams thing, T.J., I gave RICO the stat, 26% off-target rate, and that's not an anomaly,

3:22.3

considering last year he was at a 21% rate. Ben Johnson took a lot of heat, and that's not an anomaly considering last year he was at a 21% rate.

3:25.6

Ben Johnson took a lot of heat, and it's actually wrong.
